About Us
Warner Fertilizer Company was founded in 1965 and opened for business in November of that year. The original founders and owners were C. M. Warner and his three sons, C. V., J. C., and Richard Warner.
The original site and headquarters in Somerset, Kentucky, has endured two devastating fires (in 1969 and 1986) and was rebuilt each time. Through strong management and resilience, the company minimized losses and achieved profitability even in those challenging years.
In 1972, Warner opened two branch locations in Russell Springs and Columbia, Kentucky, and eventually expanded to thirteen branches. In 2026, leadership made a strategic decision to refocus operations on the Somerset area, serving Pulaski, Wayne, Lincoln, Casey, Russell, and McCreary counties. Today, the company operates an expanded fleet that includes three Vectors, three spreader trucks, 25 buggies, three mid-size tenders, and 4 large-capacity (16-ton) tenders.
Warner manufactures the WARNCO and NUTRA-GRO fertilizer brands and is a service-oriented company supporting farmers and agriculture across southern Kentucky. Products include bagged and bulk fertilizer, crop protection products, field seed, and corn and seed supplies. Services offered include custom application, spreader rentals, no-till drill rental, pasture spraying, soil testing, and agronomic consultation.
The business is highly seasonal, with approximately 80 percent of annual sales occurring between March and July. Warner employs about 20 full-time team members, increasing to approximately 25 employees during peak season.
Warner Fertilizer Company has been recognized nationally by CropLife magazine as a “Top 100 Dealership” for more than 30 years. The company was also a charter member of both the Certified Crop Care Centers and the Ag Retailers Association. Today, Warner is the largest locally owned independent fertilizer retailer in Kentucky.
The company’s philosophy has remained unchanged over the decades: to provide a quality product with outstanding service at a fair, competitive price. This commitment, along with the dedication of its people, has been the foundation of Warner’s success. Many employees have been with the company for 10, 20, 30, or more years. Warner deeply values their loyalty, experience, and contributions to both the company and the communities it serves.
In 2021, Warner was acquired by Hemisphere Limited, LLC. Hemisphere’s long-term strategy is to design and introduce value-added products and services into WFC’s existing offerings, including expanding products for farm and garden customers to create a true “one-stop” source. Locations will be designed for optimal product visibility and placement, with selling space both inside and outside each facility. Hemisphere recognizes Warner’s long-standing dedication to service and quality and is committed to continuing to exceed customer expectations.
